IFPA Fresh Field Catalyst Names Winners

The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) has selected 12 innovative companies for its Fresh Field Catalyst program, including Morphix Technologies. These winners will take part in an Immersion Week from May 9–13, designed to fast-track their entry into the produce and floral industries.

Immersion Week: A Deep Dive into the Industry

During Immersion Week, the selected companies will:

  • Tour farms and industry facilities
  • Meet with key industry leaders
  • Receive direct feedback on their products
  • Learn about regulatory frameworks

According to Vonnie Estes, IFPA’s Vice President of AgFood Tech Innovation, “The Fresh Field Catalyst program is a superhighway of development.” She emphasized that the chosen companies already have viable products and are ready to adapt them for the produce sector.

A Global Group of Innovators

The 12 winners represent eight countries and work across a range of fields including software, hardware, biotech, and robotics. They won’t just learn from the industry — they’ll also learn from each other, thanks to the program’s international diversity.

Morphix Technologies Joins the Produce Space

Morphix Technologies, based in Virginia Beach, VA, brings its chemical sensing and detection expertise to the table. Through this program, Morphix will explore ways to adapt its technology to improve safety, monitoring, or operational efficiency in the produce sector.

By engaging directly with growers, packers, and retailers, Morphix can iterate its product for a new market much faster than in a typical development cycle.

Program Benefits Go Beyond One Week

Beyond Immersion Week, the program offers:

  • A booth at the Global Produce & Floral Show
  • Access to biweekly webinars
  • Participation in a mentorship program

Estes added, “I’m excited to see these companies arrive at the Big Show with real industry knowledge. They’ll be ready to make an impact.”

Mentors and member companies are also playing a key role. By opening their doors, they’re giving participants the kind of experience that removes traditional barriers to market entry.
