CHLORINE DIOXIDE DETECTION BADGES

CHLORINE DIOXIDE CHEMICAL DETECTION DEVICES

DETECT CHLORINE DIOXIDE ON THE JOB SITE

Chlorine dioxide is a yellow to reddish-yellow gas with an unpleasant odor similar to chlorine.  It is used in the purification of water, disinfection in the food industry, and a variety of industrial applications.

Exposure to chlorine dioxide may be highly irritating to the skin and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. Continued exposure may cause pulmonary edema.

How can Morphix Technologies help?

SafeAir Chlorine / Chlorine Dioxide badges are simple, cost-effective, industry-proven solutions for chlorine dioxide detection in the workplace.  They use colorimetric technology (i.e. color change) to provide immediate indication when chlorine dioxide gas is present.  No need for lab analysis or electronic reader.

SafeAir Chlorine & Chlorine Dioxide Badge (Part#: 382003)

Designed for effective chlorine dioxide chemical detection and chlorine monitoring

The SafeAir Chlorine/Chlorine Dioxide badge provides an immediate visual indication of exposure to chlorine and/or chlorine dioxide. When one of the two contaminants is present, the exclamation mark in the triangular window changes color. The intensity of the color change is proportional to the exposure dose.

The intensity of the color change is proportional to the exposure dose.

FAQ

Why does the SafeAir chlorine / chlorine dioxide badge detect both chlorine and chlorine dioxide?

When chlorine dioxide is generated, chlorine may not be completely converted to chlorine dioxide.  The SafeAir badge allows the user to know if both chlorine and chlorine dioxide are present.

Where is chlorine dioxide used?

Chlorine is an important chemical widely used in the production of safe drinking water.  It is also used extensively in the production of paper products, dyestuffs, textiles, petroleum products and chlorinated solvents.

Chlorine dioxide gas is used for disinfection of food and food-handling facilities, and for decontamination of equipment and facilities.  It is also used in the purification of water, the tanning and de-tanning of leather, the bleaching of cellulose, flour, leather, fats and textiles, as well as in the paper and pulp industry.

What are the health effects of chlorine dioxide exposure?

Chlorine Dioxide exposure may be highly irritating to the skin and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and may cause pulmonary edema (abnormal fluid buildup in the lungs).

What are the exposure limits for chlorine dioxide?

OSHA and NIOSH exposure limit for chlorine dioxide is 0.1 ppm (TWA).

How does a SafeAir chlorine/ chlorine dioxide badge change color?

A color-forming reaction occurs when chlorine and/or chlorine dioxide reacts with the targeted proprietary indicator layer in the SafeAir chlorine & chlorine dioxide detector badge.

How long can a SafeAir chlorine/ chlorine dioxide badge be worn?

A SafeAir chlorine & chlorine dioxide detector badge can be worn for up to 10 hours during a single use. It begins detecting chlorine (Cl₂) and chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) within as little as 15 minutes. After exposure, the color change remains visible and stable for up to 4 weeks, allowing acccurate measurement using the SafeAir Chlorine Color Comparator.
